Report on progress toward product objectives

The final step to managing objectives is to share out ongoing progress to relevant stakeholders. There are a few ways you can set up a system in Airtable to report on your objectives to leadership and other stakeholders.

Automate OKR status updates

With automations, you can set up custom rules to automate common tasks right from your base. To keep objective owners on track, try building an automation that sends out a bi-weekly reminder to update the OKR status (either directly within the base or via an interface).

Every automation consists of a trigger and one or more actions. For this email digest, on a regular schedule, the automation will trigger two actions: Find records, which you can customize to find the subset of objectives you’d like to share out, and Send an email, which will automatically send an email you can customize to a list of stakeholders you choose.

Once statuses are up to date, you’re ready to share more broadly. You can use Interface Designer to create unique interfaces for different stakeholders based on what they care about to visualize OKR progress—both in real time, and over time.

In an interactive interface, leaders can see a summary of their OKRs, drill into their individual team’s OKRs, and watch the statuses of these OKRs update as the quarter progresses.

As you define and track progress on objectives across the team, there are both qualitative and quantitative outcomes you can influence and measure, like the ability to see the percentage of planned product work that is aligned to company objectives. There’s also far less duplicative product work with bottoms-up or top-down planning, as now you have visibility into objectives across teams.

Other examples of long-tail influenced metrics you can track include:

  • NPS (Net Promoter Score)

  • CSAT (Customer Satisfaction Score)

  • Customer Effort Score

  • PM/EPD employee productivity and engagement
